Virtual trials have begun in all benches of the High Court after the strict restrictions imposed to combat the pandemic have been lifted. The virtual trial began in all the 53 benches of the High Court Division on Wednesday. However, the virtual trial has been going on in the Appellate Division since August 8. On the other hand, from August 8 to Tuesday, the trial was going on virtually in 12 benches of the High Court. A statement from the Supreme Court administration on Sunday said that in the changed circumstances, judicial proceedings would be conducted in all the benches of the High Court Division of the Supreme Court through virtual presence from Wednesday, August 11. The next day, on August 9, the Chief Justice constituted to try in all 53 benches virtually. The order said, "I am hereby directing that a bench be constituted to conduct the proceedings of the High Court Division through virtual presence from 10:30 am on Wednesday, August 11 without any physical presence to prevent the transmission of coronavirus across the country."
